“Sussex and England seamer Ollie Robinson had a scan on Monday to determine the extent of some discomfort in his left ankle after playing for Sussex in the LV= Insurance County Championship Division Two match against Glamorgan at Hove last week. Scan results have revealed no damage to the ankle. And that Robinson will join up with the England Men’s Test squad this weekend ahead of the LV= Insurance Test match against Ireland starting on Thursday 1 June at Lord’s,” the statement read.
Ollie Robinson is in great form ahead of the Ashes. Before he complained of the soreness in his ankle, he picked up 14 wickets in the competition. While Ollie Robinson is fit and ready to go, there are several more issues the England team will have to resolve. Jofra Archer who was playing for MI in IPL has aggravated his elbow injury. This has resulted in him missing the Ireland test as well as the Ashes. Moreover, another fast bowler Olly Stone is suffering from a hamstring issue. The England board has currently only picked the squad for the test against Ireland. However, it is expected that the Ashes squad may have 8 bowlers from James Anderson to Ollie Robinson in order to maintain the workload.
