18TH Match (N), MELBOURNE, Dec 29 2020, Big Bash League

The Big Bash League is well underway and we are starring to see the teams that have momentum on their side and some others which are struggling. The Melbourne Renegades are in the middle of a terrible run and have recorded two sub-100 innings in a row.

The Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, have found their mojo after a poor start to the campaign. They have won three games in a row and are currently at the top of the league table.

The Melbourne Renegades have a big task ahead of them.

Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Sixers BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at the Carrara Oval, Queensland on the 29th of December 2020.

One thing that works for the Renegades is that the only way they have after their terrible performance last year is up. It was rather strange to see them go down so easily last year as they won the title just a year before that. They struggled in both the departments of the game, but they seem to have addressed most of the issues that cropped up during their dismal run last year.

Compared to their last year’s team, they have a few changes this year. Additionally, there are likely to be some late joinings due to the pandemic. They have roped in Imad Wasim, Josh Lalor to buff up their bowling. In addition to that, having the likes of Rilee Rossouw in the middle-order will give a huge boost to their batting, which looked a little out of sorts last year.

On paper, the Renegades have a terrific squad. However, not all of their players will be available in the opening match and that could be a cause of concern for them. Aaron Finch, who had been in terrific form, will likely sit out of the first few matches. Also, the absence of Mohammad Nabi in the earlier matches could have a telling impact as well.

All in all, the Renegades are coming off a poor campaign last year and will have a point to prove. They have buffed up their team this year, but the absence of a few key players in the first few matches can set them back. If they can play to their potential, there’s no reason of why they can’t start off on a winning note.

Daniel Hughes scored 96 in the previous match and won his team an absolutely brilliant contest. The Sydney Sixers have been able to find at least one such performer in each of their previous three matches and thaty is a huge positive moving forward.

It is also interesting to see the kind of approach that the Sixers have taken with their team composition.

They included Daniel Christian, Jason Holder, and Carlos Brathwaite in the playing eleven for their previous match. That means that the Sydney Sixers have more than six bowling options and genuine batting strength till number eight.

This is a difficult combination to beat and one that is very adaptable to any conditions that they might come across.

Steve O’Keefe has been bowling quite well and this is the match in which he may find conditions that suit him.

The Sydney Sixers are in good form but they are beatable and think that conditions which favor spinners may end up being difficult for their batsmen to master.

The conditions at the Carrara Oval are a bit tricky to judge right now. The pitch looks pretty good from the information that we have been able to gather but there are indications it is going to be slow in nature and helpful for the spinners.

We think this match is a good betting opportunity for people to back the underdog. The Melbourne Renegades are struggling but their team is full of some very talented cricketers. They will bounce back sooner rather than later and we think the conditions may end up favoring them.

Just one batsman from the Renegades needs to have a good match to be able to turn things around.

Bet on the Melbourne Renegades to win.
