HBH VS MLS MATCH PREDICTION & ANALYSIS

The Melbourne Stars completely imploded in their previous BBL matches and suffered one of the heaviest defeats in the history of the Big Bash League. Now, they are up against another tough challenge as they take on the Hobart Hurricanes at their traditional stronghold.

The Hurricanes are also coming into this match on the back of a loss. They were defeated by the Adelaide Strikers at Launceston but are near the top of the table with two wins from three matches so far.

It will be interesting to see which team is able to lift itself quicker after a disappointing previous match.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at the The Gabba, Brisbane on the 04th of January 2021.

TEAM PREVIEWS

HOBART HURRICANES

The Hobart Hurricanes lost some early wickets in the previous match and that set them back quite a bit. Ben McDermott and Colin Ingram did manage to stage a recovery but they were unable to convert their scores into match-winning ones.

Despite the misstep in the previous match, we continue to believe that the Hobart Hurricanes have a very good batting lineup. Darcy Short, Will Jacks, Ben McDermott, Peter Handscomb, Colin Ingram, Tim David, and Macalister Wright are all pretty good batsmen with most of them already in the runs this season.

There is some concern about the form of Peter Handscomb but we think he is going to hit form sooner rather than later as well.

James Faulkner has been swinging the ball and that is a very good sign. If his bowling can continue to be as effective as he has been so far then the Hobart Hurricanes are going to be tough to beat.

Riley Meredith, Nathan Ellis, and Scott Boland round out the attack with the all-rounders chipping in as needed.

MELBOURNE STARS

With two wins and zero loss to their name in the tournament so far, Melbourne Stars will be pretty pleased with their performance up until now. They are placed at the second spot on the points table and will be looking to get to the top with a win in this upcoming match. They were robbed of a win in their recent match as rain played spoil=sport at Launceston, but the Stars wouldn’t be worried.

The Stars will be not be playing with their regular playing eleven in this match as Nic Maddinson will not be available. Having said that, there isn’t a lot that is lost for the Stars with his absence. Nicholas Pooran joined the team recently and Ben Dunk is expected to come in for Nic Maddinson. With Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell already leading the Stars’ charge, the Stars seem to be having a terrific batting unit, even without Maddinson. Apart from that, the Stars bat pretty deep with the presence of all-rounders and that could be a key factor in the tournament going forward.

The variety in the Stars’ bowling unit is evident by the fact that Maxwell has had the luxury of using as many as eight bowlers in the tournament. They have an excellent amalgamation of youth and experience with the likes of Nathan Coulter Nile, Liam Hatcher, and Adam Zampa available at their disposal. Hatcher has been the pick of their bowlers so far in the competition, picking up five wickets with an excellent economy of 6.42.

Glenn Maxwell had a forgetful run in the IPL but has looked in superb form ever since he has landed in Australia. He was terrific in the ODIs and T20Is against India and has carried that form into the Big Bash League. Marcus Stoinis, as well, has looked good and his swashbuckling fifty against Thunder was an instance of how brutal he can be with the bat. The pair of Maxwell and Stoinis will certainly be the key to win the match for the Stars.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS

We are going to see another good batting surface at the Gabba. The bowlers will get some bounce from the surface, as they always do, but the pace of the wicket is very even and conducive to high-scoring matches.

Something around 180 is going to be on the mind of the team batting first as anything under seems difficult to defend.

HBH VS MLS BETTING TIPS

The Hobart Hurricanes love playing at the Gabba, Brisbane. They have the batting depth to bounce back strongly from most situations and the bowling to be able to highlight the Melbourne Renegades weaknesses.

We are backing the home team in this contest.

Bet on the Hobart Hurricanes to win.
