Introducing the new squad
The New Zealand cricket team has announced their two squad lists for the upcoming tour of India. It’s a return to familiar territory for captain Kane Williamson and senior players Ross Taylor, Tim Southee and Trent Boult. The one-day internationals squad will be without three more senior players in Martin Guptill, Colin Munro and Mitchell Santner who have been rested from all forms of cricket this summer. The 14-man T20 international squad features five players who toured England recently – Tom Blundell (wicketkeeper), Glenn Phillips (allrounder), Seth Rance (fast bowler), Adam Milne (fast bowler) and Ish Sodhi (spin bowler). It also includes batsmen George Worker, Blake Parlett, Ben Wheeler and Will Young.
Experienced players who have been left out
The All Blacks have just announced their squad for the upcoming tour to India. There are some familiar names on the list, but there are also a lot of new faces. The All Blacks will be without Richie McCaw who retired from international rugby this year after winning his third World Cup. They will also be without Dan Carter who is currently playing professional rugby in France. These two players were key members of New Zealand’s World Cup-winning teams and they have been replaced by Ben Smith and Aaron Cruden respectively. The All Blacks will play five tests against India as well as three ODIs. It will be interesting to see how the team shapes up in these tests.
The All Blacks played a successful Rugby Championship campaign this year, finishing at the top of their pool table with nine wins from thirteen matches. They lost only one match which was against South Africa where they lost 22-17 in Durban.
It would appear that those days are gone when we used to wonder about whether or not our national side can beat them at all! It seems like that time has passed us now and it is time for us to start wondering about if we can keep beating them!
Young players who have been included
