37TH Match (N), PERTH, Jan 06 2021, Big Bash League

The scheduling of matches in BBL 2020-21 has been a bit weird. As a result, we have the Perth Scorchers and the Hobart Hurricanes playing each other for the second time at this very early stage in the tournament. In fact, this is going to be the second match total for the Hobart Hurricanes!

It gives both teams the chance to adjust their tactics a bit and see if they can make a better fist of things.

The Perth Scorchers are unbeaten in the Big Bash season and can be seen as favorites ahead of this match.

Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at Perth Stadium, Perth on the 12th of January 2021.

The Perth Scorchers were denied the opportunity of pressing for a win against the Melbourne Stars in their previous match but there are still many positives for them to take away.

The biggest positive would the batting form of Ashton Turner and Colin Munro. Both the players played very well in the previous match and were striking the ball beautifully. Turner hit five sixes in his 17 ball stay and showed glimpses of his best form.

Josh Inglis, Joe Clarke, and Mitchell Marsh add a lot of heft to the batting as well.

Cameron Bancroft looks a bit lost down the order and we think he may be playing for his place in the next couple of matches. Still, the Perth Scorchers have a very explosive batting lineup that has been aggressive from start to the end. In fact, tempering that aggression into a more controlled manner may be something that the Scorchers can work on.

The Scorchers really need their bowling to come together to be able to mount a serious challenge for the BBL title this season. Jhye Richardson was considered as one of the best fast bowlers in the country till last year but has fallen away a bit.

He, Andrew Tye, Fawad Ahmed, and Joel Paris form an all-international bowling attack. With Aaron Hardie in there as well, we think the Perth Scorchers should be able to find their rhythm with the ball pretty soon as well.

We think the Hobart Hurricanes have been one of the most impressive teams of the BBL season so far. They have been very good with the bat with runs from almost all of their batsmen and their bowling has a great amount of depth too.

They are also the kind of team that is going to enjoy the bounce and pace at the Gabba.

We are looking forward to seeing Riley Meredith, James Faulkner, and Scott Boland unleash hell at the fast Gabba wicket.

Ben McDermott is batting very well and is currently in the same kind of form that saw him find a place in the Australian international team. Darcy Short, Will Jacks, Ben McDermott, Peter Handscomb, Tim David, and Colin Ingram form one of the strongest batting order in the entire competition.

The Hobart Hurricanes just need to worry against complacency and falling prey to going too hard too fast with the bat.

The pitch in Perth is a drop-in pitch and has been pretty unpredictable in the past. We think it could be a bit on the slower side and give the bowlers more of a chance. The outfield is pretty small and so we could see a lot of big hits too. The only unknown is uneven bounce. Hopefully, it will not make an appearance but if it does then the batsmen are going to have a very tough time

A score of around 170 should be seen as par.

We are going to stick with the Perth Scorchers in this match as well. There are not going to be any major changes in the playing eleven for either team and the focus is going to be on the execution.

The surface may make Rashid Khan more effective but the Hobart batsmen were able to play him with ease in the previous match.

Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
