19TH MATCH 2020-21
29-DEC-2020, 08:15 AM
19th Match (N), MELBOURNE, Dec 29 2020, Big Bash League
MLS VS SYT MATCH PREDICTION & ANALYSIS
The Melbourne Stars won their opening match of the Big Bash League very convincingly. They are one of the pre-tournament favorites and look like they are going to be tough to beat this entire season. Now they take on Sydney Thunder, a team that has struggled in the BBL in recent history. Sydney Thunder though has made some very good editions to its side for this season, and so they promise to be more competitive.
Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at the Manuka Oval, Canberra on the 12th of December 2020.
The Melbourne Stars were a very strong unit in the previous season, and we believe they have only gotten stronger this time around. There are some T20 giants in the Melbourne Stars that are going to lead the way for them this season.
Glenn Maxwell has been in tremendous form against the Indians while Marcus Stoinis has recovered from his injury and should be back at his preferred opening position.
Jonny Bairstow is not going to be available for this match but Nicholas Pooran should be there. The young West Indian left-hander can smash the ball from the word-go and is going to be one to watch this season.
Ben Dunk, Hilton Cartwright, and Nic Maddinson add a lot of Aussie batting depth to the team as well.
There is something that the Melbourne Stars love about Pakistani fast-bowlers. They gave Haris Rauf his first big stage to perform and now Dilbar Hussain is getting another season to try and make an impact.
Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Zampa, and Billy Stanlake are excellent homegrown bowlers as well. Zahir Khan may the beneficiary of the extra overseas slot this year in the BBL.
Sydney Thunder has put together a squad capable of winning regularly in the BBL this season. We are very excited to see Adam Milne play for them as he is capable of bowling above 150kmph on a regular basis.
He will add a lot of firepower to the Thunder bowling attack, something that was missing in the previous seasons, at least the recent ones. Daniel Sams, Chris Tremain, Ben Cutting, and Brendan Doggett are some of the other seam bowling options while Chris Green and Arjun Nair are the lead spinners.
The spin-bowling may be a bit of a concern now that Chris Green has had to remodel his bowling action and is not getting that same zip off the surface.
Usman Khawaja, Alex Hales, Alex Ross, Callum Ferguson, and some very useful all-rounders round out the batting.
If the leading batsmen can get into some run-scoring form early then Sydney Thunder is going to upset a lot of the bigger teams this season.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
There is some rain around in Canberra but hopefully, nothing that is going to affect that match. The pitch is going to be good for batting, the boundaries are small on one side, and the runs should flow.
We know that the previous match at the Manuka Oval was a low-scoring one but this one should be better. A score of around 160 should be par.
MLS VS SYT BETTING TIPS
We are sticking with the Melbourne Stars in this one but we advise you to watch Sydney Thunder very closely as well. The potential to win this match is certainly there but we would like to see the current form of their players before we really get behind them.
The Melbourne Stars also have the advantage of having played on this surface already as well.
Bet on the Melbourne Stars to win.
