Proline Predictions
The two teams have a lot of similarities in their team compositions, but there are a few differences. Firstly, both teams have a top-class all-rounder in their ranks – AB de Villiers for South Africa and Elton Chigumbura for Zimbabwe. The two players are crucial to how these two teams operate. Secondly, both teams employ five specialist bowlers and three specialist batsmen. However, the bowling attack for both teams does not bear many similarities: South Africa has got Vernon Philander, Kyle Abbott and Morne Morkel to choose from whereas Zimbabwe has Tino Mutombodzi, Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara to choose from. Despite this difference, it is clear that both sides are evenly matched on paper. The real battleground is at the batting crease where the two sides boast different strengths. While SA possesses some of the best batsmen in world cricket today like Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock, Zimbabwe has experienced stalwarts like Sikandar Raza Buttler and Brendan Taylor who form part of one of the strongest batting line-ups on earth along with Elton Chigumbura. In this contest between equals (on paper), we think that either team can be victorious
Tendai Chatara – Player Analysis
Chatara is a young, talented bowler who has a lot of potential. He has been in and out of the team, but he is always good when he gets his chance. Chatara had an impressive 2016 ICC World T20 campaign where he picked up 12 wickets at an average of 18.5 and a strike rate of 12.2 per wicket. This proved that he could still be effective even though he hasn’t been playing regularly for his country recently. His accuracy and ability to swing the ball both ways make him one of the better options to take on with no batsman dominating against him. It’s unlikely he’ll play too many overs due to being part of a three-man pace attack, but Chatara should expect to bowl his full quota if they need early breakthroughs.
Mushfiqur Rahim – Player Analysis: Mushfiqur Rahim is an excellent batsman and one who can put pressure on other top teams batting down at number four or five with some aggressive intent.
Blessing Muzarabani – Player Analysis
Blessing Muzarabani, a 25-year-old left-arm fast bowler, has been in great form for Zimbabwe. He was part of the 2018 CPL campaign where he picked up 10 wickets from 10 games at an average of 17.6 and an economy rate of 7.3.
He also has three wickets from four ODI matches at an average of 16 with an economy rate of 5.8 in 2019 so far. Muzarabani is a handy lower-order batsman with two half-centuries to his name this year too. His stats show that he’s very good in both bowling and batting which makes him quite useful for any side. With that said, it’s tough to go against someone better than you are as we think Muzarabani will do well on Saturday night.
We expect Zimbabwe to lose this game because they have lost all their previous encounters against the Netherlands while the Dutch have won five out of six matches against them with one draw. It looks like they have a really good chance if they want to make it through the group stage because they are just one point away from sealing qualification after their victory over Ireland last week.
Chris Mpofu – Player Analysis
Chris Mpofu is a seasoned player in international cricket and has been a vital member of the team for many years now. He had been part of the squad during Zimbabwe’s most successful era when they won six ICC trophies including two World Cups in 2003 and 2007. He played a pivotal role in both finals to help his side clinch victory. His experience with the current crop of players could be crucial for their chances against the Netherlands as well.
Chris Mpofu is not only an experienced player but also an excellent fielder who can field at any position on the ground without compromising on his performances with bat and ball. With his age being a little over 30, it remains to be seen how long he will continue to play but so far he looks like one of the fittest members of the team and does not show signs of slowing down anytime soon. If there are no injuries or other reasons that prevent him from playing, we expect him to start this game too.
Kyle Jarvis – Player Analysis
Kyle Jarvis is a right-arm fast bowler and right-handed batsman. He made his Test debut in October 2008, when he was selected as part of England’s squad for the final Ashes series of that year. He played one Test against Australia in Brisbane and also played in two ODIs against them in Melbourne and Sydney. In 2009 he toured Bangladesh with England, playing three Tests there, although injury limited him to just one game on tour. Injury again ruled him out of contention for selection during the 2010/11 Ashes series but he was recalled to play against India in three Tests in late 2012. He is a hard-working cricketer who has suffered from his fair share of injury problems over recent years.
Brandon Mavuta – Player Analysis
Brandon Mavuta is an all-rounder and has a batting average of 34.6 in ODIs (Pakistan tour, 2019) with an impressive strike rate of 91. He is also a competent bowler with 7 wickets to his name at a bowling average of 26.2. It would be great for Zimbabwe if he can replicate this performance against the Netherlands because it seems like he is set for big things in cricket.
