Tata Group Retains IPL Title Sponsorship for Next Five Years: Sources

The Tata Group has successfully retained the title sponsorship rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the next five years, according to sources. This new agreement extends Tata’s tenure as the title sponsor of the prestigious T20 event until 2028. Tata secured the deal by matching the figure presented by Aditya Birla using its Right to Match (RTM) card.

As one of India’s largest business conglomerates, Tata had previously replaced Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo as the IPL title sponsor in a two-year deal from 2022 to 2023. Vivo had held the title sponsorship rights from 2018 to 2022, with a deal worth Rs 2200 crore. However, following the 2020 Galwan Valley military face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers, Vivo took a break for a year, with Dream11 replacing it in the IPL.

Despite speculation about Vivo’s return, the BCCI approved the company’s move to transfer the rights to a suitable bidder, ultimately leading to Tata Group’s retention as the IPL title sponsor. This renewal underscores Tata’s enduring commitment to the IPL and its prominent presence in India’s corporate and sporting landscape.
